For those of us that go through many cars, what is the one you miss the most? The one you wish you hadn’t traded or sold. Let’s reminisce of the ones that got away too early.
Here is mine. It was a pure reflection of myself. ‘91 Towncar. After about 6 months of ownership, I though I’d like a 4Runner more so I traded it in. I long for the days I can get into another Towncar.

Easy, 99 Suburban 2500, because who doesn’t love getting shitty gas mileage.
Really though, we were rear ended in it twice before I got it and each time it walked away with just a small dent. Also I liked being able to take almost everything I own with me at any given time.

My ‘98 540i. I think it’s one of the most beautiful BMWs made in the last 20 years and I loved it. Being 18-22 years old during ownership meant I wasn’t financially stable and couldn’t afford the constant service it needed so she had to go. Being very financially stable now I hope to one day find one with low kms on it.

My 2007 Mazda 6. Got totaled in a flash flood while it was parked. Still miss that car.

Hmm, tough one. I’d say it’s a tossup between two of them.
I had an 85 Honda CRX. Even though it wasn’t an Si, and it had an automatic, it was still a blast to drive. Nothing handled quite like that car. Not to mention I could park it anywhere and it got fantastic gas mileage. I foolishly got rid of it when the head gasket blew. It was replaced with a G-body Cutlass. While nice, it was like driving a cruise ship as compared to the CRX.
I also had an 85 Prelude. I really liked that car too. Had a 5 speed so it was all kinds of fun to drive, considering (IMHO) Honda has one of the best transmission in the business. I ended up getting rid of that one because it had no heat and. I ended up replacing it with a Chevy Beretta. What a mistake that was.

94 Purple Geo Tracker. Bought it for $400 and it too $500 to get it operating. Driver side door came off, passenger door only opened from inside, hood flew off leaving high school parking lot, no heat, no ac, no radio.....but I got my first girlfriend and laid within three days of her finding out I drove it.
*it was because she was impressed I never complained and enjoyed it. Dated five years! Beaters always win the right kind of women.

05 Cooper S. Don’t get me wrong, I love my gti and the 2 door wouldn't work for our kid and dog. But I miss the sound of that little super charger and the exhaust crackle that thing had.

Nice. I drive a 2001 Suburban 2500 for work hauling inflatables to kids parties. While I'm not a big fan of GM, the thing is so smooth and fast for how big it is.

Oh man, I’ve got a top 3 list.
The most obvious is my Miata.
The unlikely one is my Ford Aspire. Not until you truly hate an econobox with every fiber of your being and try to kill it relentlessly and it refuses to die do you begin to truly appreciate these kinds of cars. Plus four wheel drifts in crap like this are fun as hell as is constantly redlining and never breaking the law.
My most missed is my first though, my Pulsar. The power steering didn’t work but it only weighed 2200 lbs and it loved to rev. It was great on gas and fun in the hills and truly cemented my love of driving and slow car fast mentality. I mean how much more Jalop do you get than a pop up head lights/T-tops/liftback/wagon car?

How did those handle on the highway? My one gripe with older cars is road noise on the highway.

1990 Ford Bronco. Was only sorta mine. It was my parents’ but I drove it a lot. Stepdad traded it for two wranglers and a ranger. The ranger went to me. I really liked the ranger and since I was a broke college student I liked the relative fuel sipping 4 cylinder vs the V8 of the Bronco.
Given the prices of last generation Broncos now and lack of funds/room for another vehicle I don't need, I'll probably never have another and definitely not as good of condition.

Sadly ours threw a rod at 125k. The interior was pretty shitty but durable for what it was. The only thing ours was missing was the barn doors though the tailgate had its advantages too.
Unrelated, why don’t more suvs/crossovers have drop down tailgates instead of the full hatch? The only one I can think of offhand is the Range Rover

Solid list. Why did the Miata have to go? I almost bought an aspire a few months ago, but the price point wasn’t worth it. Also killed me that it didn’t have power steering, but was I was looking forward to the 40mpg+ the seller advertised.

Which one? The CRX, Prelude or Olds?
The Olds really wasn’t bad. It had an anemic V6 in it, but once it got up to speed it was okay.
The Prelude and the CRX were both okay. Road noise really wasn’t an issue. Then again, I’m the type of person who will drive with the windows down almost exclusively, so I might not be the best judge.
None of these were like a town car on the highway though. My 88 would just float down the road. And then you look down and realize you're doing 85mph when you thought you were going 50.

40+ mpg out of an Aspire is a lie. Maybe 40 if it has the stick. That said with the 3 speed auto I consistently got 30 mpg in both city and highway and I drove like a madman.
First I got in an accident with the Miata and then the timing belt went. Between the money I got selling it and not spending the money to fix it it is about the same price as a trackrat Miata which is what I want eventually anyway if I get another one.

yea good question. Probably has to do with differentiating between truck and SUV. Trucks to have the tailgates only. But not sure.

If you're constantly up to date with maintenance and baby them they'll be fine but if you treat it like an American car it's going to destroy itself.

That’s funny, I went from a MKV Golf with every mod you can imagine, to a 135i. Way faster, smoother and classier, but something about driving a fully modified car with intake/full exhaust/tune/engine mounts/suspension/sway bars etc.. and the instant throttle response and sound of the 5cycl.. sorry for rambling lol

blew a transmission at 80K miles as the early ones are often doing, got stolen right from the transmission shop. I bought it for $500 at 57K miles from a guy who hated foreign cars and got left this by his dad. Just needed a battery

Don’t think of a Miata like a regular car. Think of it more like motorcycle or a Morgan because the experience is similar. Also the Miata is pretty wide all things considered.

This.
When I was little we had one with the slight body kit and we drove it everywhere...then it had transmission issues so we parked it and five years later it was donated to charity...
This was the black car’s twin sister who left at the same time...this one had no transmission issues (it was a manual!) but just had a few niggles with the engine and whatnot...(like the timing belt went but at least it was a non-interference...)

Never. I wasn’t allowed to take the top off because my parents didn’t want the paint getting messed up.
It was babied and stock except for wheels.
If we still had it, it would be a unicorn. Judging by the way the guy modded his jeeps I can all but guarantee its either dead or modded a ton.

The bed is smaller, but it has 4WD and was probably as quick as a low spec Camino at the time, so they probably are more versatile. I loved it.

My first car, an 89 635csi, one of only 200 imported to the US with a manual. Donated to WGBH during a very shitty part of my life by my parents “to get it out of the driveway” I saw it on craigslist a few months later and was literally in tears. I *WILL* own another one. But I’ll always miss her...

My first car: 1995 Miata. Bought it when I was 19, had it for two years, and sold it in 2013 (to my neighbor). I’ve since had a 2001 BMW 330xi, 2007 Audi A4 2.0T and now a 2015 WRX, but I still get jealous when I see my neighbor leaving the driveway.

Well, the lease was up on it, and I had put a shit ton of miles on it working my way through college in the pizza delivery business. Plus, I had gotten married and had a kid, so I needed something bigger. I bought it out from the dealership and then sold it to a wholesaler friend of the family. He in turn hooked me up with a lower mileage 2012 Ford Fusion.
My Sentra was metallic blue though. Absolutely beautiful color. And even though it was a CVT, it was still a blast to drive / beat the crap out of, lol. I don’t have any pics of my actual car, but here’s a pic from Google of exactly what I had.
